Woman seeks govt help to find her husband who went missing in Saudi Arabia

A woman has made an appeal to the Indian government to help find her husband who has gone missing after he was picked up in Saudi Arabia for allegedly having links with the Indian Mujahideen.

Indian techie Fasih Mehmood was picked up in the town of Al Jubail allegedly by Saudi Officials on May 13. Reports say he was deported to India on alleged charges. But Fasih Mehmood never reached India.

"Some Saudi police officials came to our apartment. They locked me in a room, scanned the house, took our laptop and mobile phones and he never returned," said Nikhat Parveen, the wife of Mehmood.

Not knowing what to do, the helpless wife decided to return home to India and seek support from the Government.

For more than two weeks now, Nikhat has been taking rounds of the Saudi embassy and the Ministry of External Affairs without any news of her missing husband.

Some news did come in the form of a phone call on May 20. Nikath remembers her husband didn't reveal much. "I got a call from him a week ago. All he said was that just pray that all charges are false, all they have given me is a Quran and a prayer mat," Nikhat said.

With one photograph, countless emails, different ministries and a futile search, Nikhat is hopeful that she will find her missing husband but prays each day it's not too late.
